Relics of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque

The Relics of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Visit St. Margaret Mary Parish.

We were honored to have the relics of St. Margaret Mary visit our parish on Oct. 29th and 30th.  Several of our Sir Knights stood guard over the relics during the weekend.  The relics are two of her ribs which were close to her heart and a patella (knee cap) which she knelt in front of our Savior.

It was at Paray-le-Monial that Jesus appeared to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690), revealing to her His Heart burning with love for man. A young girl from the region, Margaret Mary, entered the Monastery of the Visitation in Paray-le-Monial in 1671, aged 24 years. She experienced numerous apparitions which were confirmed by her confessor, a Jesuit, Saint Claude de la Colombière. Jesus requested the introduction of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, which would take place every year in June. Following these apparitions, the spirituality of the Sacred Heart spread throughout the whole world. Saint Margaret Mary was canonized on May 13, 1920, and Saint Claude de la Colombière on May 12, 1992.
